Central Trekkers
The Central Trekkers are Central’s active Adult Senior Group.
The Trekkers get together quarterly to go site seeing and do local activities. Past events have included apple picking in the mountains, visiting the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, and going to see Christmas Lights. For more information, please contact the church office.

Advent Begins November 27
What is Advent? The word “advent” derives from the Latin “adventus”, meaning “coming.” During its earliest observances, Advent was 40 days of repentance, fasting and prayer as new believers prepared for their baptisms. Oftentimes, these baptisms took place on the day of Epiphany–which is a day remembering the Magi’s visit to baby Jesus; it was a celebration of Jesus’ incarnation on Earth What is Advent about? (umc.org) We will have special readings during Sunday services beginning November 27.

Scouting for Food
On Saturday, November 19, Boy Scout Troop 92 will be participating in the Scouting for Food Program. They will be set up to collect canned food donations at the Kings Mountain Neighborhood Walmart from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. The food will be donated to help those in need. Thank you for your support.

Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive
We are collecting canned candied yams and canned cranberry sauce for the Community Kitchen’s Thanksgiving food giveaway. Please donate to the collection bin in the CAC hallway. Our goal is 65 of each. Please donate by November 13, 2022. Thank you for your support of this project to help the community.

Community Kitchen Thanksgiving Hours
Community Kitchen Notice of Special Thanksgiving Hours Please note we will be open 11:00 am-12:30 pm on 11/24/22. We are seeking a substitute driver to pickup at Food Lion at 11 am as needed. The Community Kitchen’s regular hours are Thursdays from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm. We are a food pantry in partnership with Second Harvest.

Poinsettias will be placed in the Sanctuary and will remain until after the Christmas Eve service on 12/24/22. Orders are due no later than Sunday, November 27. Poinsettias cost $11 each.

Russell Fellowship Class Christmas Project
The Russell Fellowship Class Christmas Project will be collecting cash and blankets this year (no toys). They will be serving around 30 families in the community. Fall Festival Volunteers Needed
We are in need of 15 volunteers to help with the event set up/clean up, games & activities, candy runners, and prepare ministry bags. We are collecting individually wrapped candy to give away and the collection bin is in the CAC hallway. 10 Decorated Cars for Trunk or Treat Needed for Fall Festival! We need 10 volunteers to decorate their cars for this annual event. Candy will be provided to hand out. Please contact Nicole Radford at 704-751-6798 to sign up. I am humbled and honored to serve God’s Kingdom as a part of Central UMC of Kings Mountain! We will meet in the choir room for a rehearsal and for some time to talk and get to know each other.
